The port of Mērsrags is a small yachting and fishing harbour formed by two breakwaters extending E from the mouth of a stream, the outlet from Lake Engure – a large lake which lays 1.5 to 2.5 km from the coast S of the harbour. The port is also used for the transhipment of timber and other cargoes. Mērsrags leading lights are two red lights. Fairway direction is 267°, the distance from the fairway lighted buoy to piers is 3.2 km.
